Social Futsal One Day Tournament
On Saturday we had more than one hundred players playing in a men’s and women’s one day Futsal tournament at Mt Lawley Futsal Club. Starting at 9am and playing throughout the beautiful sun filled day, everyone had a great time and there was lots of excellent Futsal played. As always we have to thank the referees and our staff for running what was a terrific day!
Throughout the day the teams played each other once in a round robin style group format and from that the ECU side came out on top in the women’s, while the Hawks, Venom and the Oz Youth women all finished equal on points going through to the semi-finals.
In the men’s, the ECU side also finished top, level on points with the Hawks men who had to settle for 2nd place via goal difference. What’s the rules? and Midd Strength made up the other semi-final places. At the pointy end of the day the live-streamed Grand-Finals saw the ECU uni students with too much for the Northern Hawks in the men’s final via a 2nd half comeback and penalty shoot-out heroics from Moutasim Al-Busaidi.
In the women’s final Shelby Cochran led a very youthful Venom team to a convincing 5-2 victory over the Hawks, in a match which saw some brilliant team goals scored.
The MVPs for the day were Luke Ross from ECU and Hannah Muamar from the Oz Youth women.
