WSLA Grand-Final

The men’s and women’s Supa-Liga A Grand-Finals were played last weekend in front of a good crowd that was ready for the tight battles that were expected to follow.

In the Women’s match, the league Champions the Kingsway Kings went in as favourites and were expected to dominate possession and the scoring opportunities against the less futsal renowned North Central Futsal. North Central finished the regular season third with a good push at the end of the season and haven’t given away many goals in any game that they have played.

With Becky Musial in goal for the Kings and Gabby Dal Busco in goal for North Central, it was likely to be tough for the attacking players on each side. As it was, the game was quite end to end with both Dal Busco and Musial making crucial saves at each end and Andrea Preiato and Chelsie Winchcombe pulling the strings respectively, extra-time and penalties would certainly not have been out of the realms of possibility.

In the end, goals to Monique Godding and the winner to Epril Nossent were enough to deny the Kings the league and Grand-Final double as North Central ran out 2-1 winners.
