R12 – Women’s Supa-Liga, 2021/22 Summer Season
Featured Match Review
The Women’s featured match of round 12 was between the West Coast Cobras and Andinxs FC. The last time these two sides met, Andinxs picked up their first win of the season with an upset 4-1 victory. West Coast Cobras were looking to exact revenge, needing a win to keep their third placing. The line-ups were much changed from the last time the two sides met. Andinxs were missing their top scorer in Ingrid Gomez, and handed out debuts to Golub on court and Kaddour in goals. In contrast, West Coast Cobras fielded an experienced side with plenty of fire power to test the new Andinxs goal keeper.
It was the Cobras that got off to an early start in this match. A hand ball against the Andinxs in the box giving the Cobras an early penalty which Ridley put away. Not more than a minute later, Litana of the Andinxs broke free and put in a tricky cross that deflected between Leyland and Bates, and eventually in the goal. West Coast Cobras regained their lead on the 6th minute when Ranieri got on the end of a cross field pass and laid it off to Bates at the back post to tap in. Ridley doubled the Cobras lead to 3-1 with her second of the half with a low driven shot, but it was the Andinxs who would go into half-time with a bit of momentum. Golub scoring on debut to make the score 3-2 at half-time.

Quyen Doan with the Cobras 6th goal
The experience of the Cobras began to show in the second half as they started to dominate the possession. The Andinxs FC defense held strong until the 5th minute when Ridley intercepted a pass and broke free to score her hat-trick goal. The goal acted as a gut-punch to the Andinxs team and just thirty seconds later, Ridley again scored from an intercepted pass, this time McCartney picking off a weak pass and laying the ball into Ridley’s path for her to make it 5-2. The frantic three minutes was capped off with an emphatic goal from Doan. Quyen Doan intercepted yet another pass and found herself barrelling towards goal, before smashing the ball past the keeper.
Andinxs FC held strong for a large part of the rest of the half. Amanda Litana managed to score a third for them after cutting inside and shooting at the near post to be Leyland in goals. However, any threat of a come-back was quickly stifled when the whole Cobras squad combined for a goal of the season contender. A sharp move from back to front, including a fly-keeper and one touch passing, was finished off by Ridley at the back post on the half-volley. The final goal for the Cobras was scored by Continibali, powering it past the goalkeeper and into the top corner.
The 8-3 victory for the West Coast Cobras keeps them in third place and in touch with the top two. Meanwhile, Andinxs FC are still rooted to the bottom of the ladder and will be hoping for a more positive display against Phoenix Futsal WA next weekend. The Phoenix will go into the bottom of the table clash after a 4-0 loss to the Western Devils, consolidating their top spot. Northern Hawks SC and Perth Pumas FC played out a nil all draw. The results of this round set up a blockbuster round 13 with each team playing their neighbouring rivals on the league ladder.
